Quick Take
Two 1/10 crawlers at different price points with distinct personalities. The Wraith is a fast rock racer that doubles as a trail truck. The Enduro Sendero HD is a dedicated scale trail rig emphasizing realism and unique suspension design. The Wraith costs noticeably more.
The Axial Wraith 1.9 and Element RC Enduro Sendero HD share a market category but have very different personalities on the trail. The Wraith is a tube-frame rock racer that hits 15 mph and looks like competition off-road equipment. The Enduro Sendero HD is a scale trail truck that cruises at 8 mph maximum and looks like a miniature overlanding rig fresh from a camping expedition. With a meaningful price gap, the Wraith carries a price premium that reflects its more performance-oriented design philosophy and Axial's established brand position in the crawling market.
The Wraith's speed advantage is immediately obvious: nearly double the Sendero's top speed. This allows the Wraith to handle a wider range of driving situations and styles, from deliberate slow-speed technical crawling to high-speed trail blasting where you're racing between obstacles rather than carefully picking over them. The Sendero is designed for one specific thing: realistic trail driving at scale-appropriate speeds that look correct on camera and in person. It does this extremely well and with a character that the faster Wraith doesn't replicate. The Sendero weighs more at 8 lbs versus the Wraith's 6.7, which gives it better traction through sheer mass pressing the tires into surfaces but makes it slightly less agile on steep, technical climbs where lighter trucks can be positioned more precisely.
Ground clearance slightly favors the Wraith at 3.15 versus 3.0 inches, though both numbers are competitive for the 1/10 crawling class. The Sendero has a marginally longer wheelbase at 12.8 inches compared to 12.5, which can improve approach and departure angles on undulating terrain. The Sendero's 21-inch length and 10.24-inch width give it proportionally realistic scale dimensions, while the Wraith's sportier 19.1 x 10.75-inch profile emphasizes function over scale realism. Neither truck is waterproof, which remains a frustrating and common omission in the crawler segment where outdoor driving through streams and wet rocks is a standard part of the experience. Both run brushed motors on 3000mAh 2S LiPo batteries with similar 30-40 minute runtimes.
Element RC, which operates as Associated Electrics' trail-focused brand, brings solid engineering expertise to the Sendero's design. The most distinctive feature is the Sendero's independent front suspension paired with a solid rear axle. This hybrid setup gives it a unique handling character that differs meaningfully from the Wraith's traditional dual solid axle configuration. The Sendero's IFS offers smoother trail riding, better handling over small bumps and rough surfaces, and a more realistic suspension movement that mimics full-size trucks. The Wraith's front and rear solid axles are more traditional for the crawling hobby and provide predictable articulation and flex that the community understands deeply.
For modification potential, the Wraith wins by a substantial margin. Its tube-frame chassis practically invites customization: new bodies, cage modifications, electronics upgrades, and scale accessories fit naturally. The aftermarket catalog for the Wraith platform is enormous after years of community support. The Sendero has a growing following but can't yet match what Axial's ecosystem offers. If you want a rock racer that can be built into almost anything you imagine, the Wraith at its price point is the platform to invest in. If you want an excellent scale trail truck with unique IFS handling characteristics and a realistic driving experience for significantly less, the Enduro Sendero HD is a really smart and compelling choice.
Tube frame, 15 mph, and an aftermarket catalog longer than your arm. The Wraith is the rock racer that becomes whatever you build it into.
