The Rival MT10 is a 1/10-scale basher priced at its price point. That price difference buys you a bigger truck with a unique drivetrain, but the Rival offers genuine value in its own right.
Both trucks hit 40 mph, which puts them on equal footing for straight-line speed. But the LMT achieves this while weighing 11.13 lbs with a solid rear axle, while the Rival MT10 does it at 6.17 lbs with conventional independent suspension. The Rival accelerates faster and handles more nimbly at that equal top speed. It changes direction with less effort and responds to steering inputs more crisply. The LMT feels deliberate and heavy by comparison, but that mass is part of its charm. When 11 lbs of monster truck lands a backflip, the impact is visceral.
The LMT's party trick is freestyle. Its solid rear axle creates the rotational inertia needed for consistent backflips and standing wheelies. The Rival MT10 can't replicate these stunts. It's a traditional basher that jumps, lands, and drives fast. If stunts and monster jam replication are your thing, the LMT has no competition here. Value is the Rival MT10 V2's strong suit. At its price point, it's significantly cheaper than the LMT and matches its speed with waterproofing. If you don't need the LMT's stunt capabilities, the Rival saves you money and provides a more practical daily basher. Parts availability favors neither truck strongly; both Team Associated and Losi have decent dealer networks, though neither matches Traxxas. The Rival has a growing aftermarket, while the LMT's aftermarket has matured nicely with aluminum upgrades and body options.
The fundamental question: do you want a stunt truck or a basher? The LMT is the stunt truck. The Rival MT10 V2 is the basher. Both are good trucks that serve their respective purposes well. If you can only pick one, your driving style determines the answer.
The LMT is bigger, does backflips, and looks like an actual monster jam truck. Worth a modest price more? Only if stunts are your priority.
